Project Innamorati

   In his attempt to understand and replicate the power of the Heavenly Principles, Dottore studied the powers of the Shades and the Moon Sisters, especially the Frost Moon through Columbina. This knowledge combined with what he learned about Khaenri'ahn technology through experimenting on Scaramouche led to the creation of a plan to create his own Shades/Moon Goddesses to help him hold the power of the HP.

   He disguised this plan to the Tsaritsa and the other Harbingers by describing them as prototype vessels for the higher level Harbingers, offering them to Pierro, Capitano, & Columbina. Pierro & Columbina agreed to it, but Capitano refused, leading to the design of two puppets.

   Although the duo were originally intended to learn from Pierro & Columbina directly, the two were often busy with their own tasks, which led them to assign the duty of teaching the duo to Scaramouche & La Signora respectively.

   After La Signora's death, the Tsaritsa made the decision to make the two into trial Harbingers and consider adding them to the ranks fully if they can prove their value to the Fatui. Coviello gains his title after helping Capitano in Natlan and claiming the Pyro gnosis. Scapino gains his after helping Columbina defeat Dottore in Nod-Krai.

   Design Notes - The original inspiration for the duo was the stock versions of Pierrot & Columbina from the commedia dell'arte, however over time these morph into their own unique designs along with elements of Scapino & Coviello respectively.
